I think as human beings, a people driven by boredom and nostalgia, we condense the world into bite-sized pieces and thumbnail art.
We see, we judge, we assess.
Then...
We move on.
An ancient anecdote goes along the lines of "don't judge a book by its cover", because we know we do. We know human nature, the fleeting imagination and concentration within us all. We need these micromanaged pieces to cope with the ever-expanding world. Who needs to read a book when we can read summaries, and who needs to read summaries when we can read highlights. And who needs to read highlights when we can't read ideas.
With that.... I welcome you to my story. This is my cover. A nice glossy image with embossed lettering tacked on with an oh-so stylish flair. A nice smattering of pixels that merge and emerge into an image that hopefully pleases the viewer. My story is to come. I just needed to present this 'cover' to you first and give the first rays of life, enough to pull at your psyche so you return. Otherwise, this is just another book-face that takes .005 seconds of your time and attention as you stroll by. The story inside fleeting ... and lost.
So my question to you is this: If a cover never catches, are ideas lost?
